Privacy Policy

RotorPulse ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that information when you use the RotorPulse iOS app.

1. Information We Collect

We collect the following information when you create an account or use the app:

Account information: email address, username, and password (passwords are securely hashed and never stored in plain text).
Profile information: display name, bio, city/location, country, profile photo, flying experience ("flying since"), and a list of RC transmitters you choose to add (manufacturer and model only).
Social connections: the list of users you follow and users who follow you.
User content: forum posts, replies, and photos you attach to posts or replies and submit to the community.
Hangar / fleet data: RC helicopter models you add to your personal hangar, including any notes you provide.
Battery records: battery name, manufacturer, cell count, capacity (mAh), cycle count, purchase date, and any notes you add. All battery data is entered manually by you.
Flight logs: flight session records including date, batteries used, notes, and — optionally — your precise GPS coordinates and a resolved place name for the flying location. Location is only collected when you explicitly tap "Use Current Location" or manually place a pin on the map in the flight log screen. It is never collected automatically or in the background.
Maintenance logs: maintenance type (e.g. blade change, tuning), date, and description per helicopter, entered manually by you.
Interactions: votes (upvotes/downvotes) and content flags you submit.

We do not collect contacts, camera access, or any health or financial information. Location access requires your explicit permission and is only used for the purpose you initiate — you can log flights without providing a location at any time.

2. Location Data

When you choose to attach a location to a flight log, the app requests your device's GPS coordinates at that moment (precise location, accurate to approximately 100 meters). You may also drag a pin on a map to pinpoint the exact flying site before saving. The resulting coordinates and resolved place name (e.g. "Union Square, San Francisco") are stored with that flight log entry in your account.

Location is requested as "when in use" only. The app never accesses location in the background. If you deny location permission, all app features except optional flight location tagging continue to work normally.

3. Photo Library Access

When you attach a photo to a forum post or reply, the app requests access to your photo library. The selected photo is uploaded to and stored on our servers (Supabase) as part of that post or reply. We do not scan, index, or access any photos beyond the ones you explicitly select and submit.

4. How We Use Your Information

To create and maintain your account.
To display your profile, hangar, and content to other users within the app.
To send account-related emails (email verification, password reset).
To operate the community features (posts, replies, votes, moderation flags).
To store your personal hangar, battery, flight, and maintenance records and make them accessible to you across devices.
To improve the app based on aggregated, non-identifying usage patterns.

We do not sell your personal information to third parties. We do not use your data for advertising.

5. Data Storage and Third-Party Services

Your data is stored and processed using Supabase (Supabase Inc., USA), which provides our database, authentication, and file storage infrastructure. Supabase is contractually bound to protect your data and process it only as directed by us. For more information, see Supabase's Privacy Policy.

Data is stored on servers located in the United States.

6. Data Retention

We retain your account and profile data for as long as your account is active. User-generated content (posts, replies, flight logs, battery records) may remain on our servers after account deletion unless you explicitly delete it before closing your account.

You may request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time by contacting us at the email address below.

7. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights including:

Access to the personal data we hold about you.
Correction of inaccurate data.
Deletion of your account and personal data.
Export of your data in a portable format.

8. Children's Privacy

RotorPulse is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

9. Security

We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including encrypted data transmission (HTTPS), secure password hashing, and row-level access controls on our database so that users can only access their own private data.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
